Al-Kharabsheh: The Rural Fils provides 938 sites and homes with electricity at a cost of one million and 621 thousand dinars in the month of March

Amman, April 2, 2024 - The Supreme Steering Committee for Rural Electrification approved, during a meeting chaired by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, today, Tuesday, the lists of houses and sites benefiting from the delivery of electricity through regular networks, numbering about 317 houses and sites, at a total cost amounting to one million and 621 thousand dinars.

Minister Al-Kharabsheh said in a press statement that the committee approved a group of projects and sites to which electricity will be delivered at the expense of the Rural Fils, including population centers and economic activities.

Regarding the details of the decisions, the Director of the Electricity and Rural Electrification Directorate in the Ministry, Engineer Hisham Al-Momani, said that they include population centers consisting of five houses outside the planning boundaries, with a total cost of the project amounting to 384 thousand dinars.

The decisions also included population centers consisting of three houses outside the organization’s boundaries at a minimum, at a cost of 196 thousand dinars, and included individual homes located outside the organization’s boundaries that benefit from existing networks, at a total cost of 79 thousand dinars.

According to Momani, the list approved by the Supreme Committee included a segment of homes for chaste families located within the regulatory boundaries in the electricity companies’ concession areas, at a total cost amounting to 10 thousand dinars, in support of chaste families with limited income.

The list also included a segment of projects that included poultry, cows, sheep, and fish farms within areas of poverty areas outside the organization, with a total value of 12 thousand dinars, out of the Ministry’s belief in its role in supporting farmers, encouraging livestock production, and enhancing self-reliance.

The categories included in the committee’s lists include lighting the roads leading to the cemeteries at a cost of 67 thousand dinars, in order to make it easier for citizens to bury their dead during the night.

Al-Momani added that according to the lists, the Rural Fils will support productive, industrial and investment projects located in areas of poverty areas and outside the organization’s boundaries, based on the approved foundations of the Rural Fils, provided that these projects provide job opportunities for Jordanians residing in the project area. The contribution of the Rural Fils to the projects amounted to 94 thousand dinars.

Al-Momani explained that the Rural Fils contributed to raising the capabilities of the conversion stations that were established during the last ten years for the purposes of addressing the weakness in the electrical current and reducing electrical losses at a financial cost of 53 thousand dinars.

Al-Momani completed the targeted categories, which included farms containing artesian wells located outside the organization, at a total cost of 48 thousand dinars, in support of farmers, advancing the agricultural sector, and contributing to achieving food security.

Al-Momani stated that Rural Fils contributed to delivering electricity to sites affiliated with government sectors and sites included in the initiatives of His Royal Majesty King Abdullah II, which the Royal Court is establishing for needy families, at a total cost amounting to 57 thousand dinars.

Regarding the exploitation of alternative energy sources, the committee approved in its lists the installation of solar cell systems connected to the grid for 621 homes for needy families and beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund in order to reduce their monthly energy bill, which contributes indirectly to increasing the monthly financial income of this group and improving its economic level.
