The Directorate of Electricity and Rural Electrification at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate, has completed a number of works under the Solar Energy Project – Tender No. (9/M/E/Works/2024), which aims to supply external patrol units, Civil Defense centers, and Desert Forces with solar power systems.
MEMR stated that the installation of metal structures and solar panels has been completed, in addition to the extension of electrical cabling at several sites, including Shbeaka Patrol Station, Desert Forces Unit / Shbeaka, Al-Ashqaf Patrol Station, Al-Ashqaf Civil Defense Center, and Al-Karama Patrol Station.
It added that work is currently underway to install metal structures and prepare the necessary infrastructure at a number of other sites, including Tuba Patrols, Tuba Civil Defense Center, Bayer Patrols, and Bayer Civil Defense Center, in accordance with the approved project implementation timeline.
The works are being supervised by a joint committee from MEMR and the Public Security Directorate, as part of joint efforts to enhance reliance on renewable energy sources and improve energy efficiency and sustainability in security and service facilities across the Kingdom.
