The Director of the Petroleum and Oil Shale Directorate and Chairman of the Geological Committee, Bahjat Al-Adwan, thanked the Arab Potash Company for the warm welcome, highlighting the Ministry's ongoing commitment to maintaining communication and cooperation with partners in the sector.
Al-Adwan conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, to the company's management and employees, emphasizing the trip's goal of enhancing cooperation and communication with various partners from the public and private sectors. This is in line with the Ministry's vision of informing employees of development partners' projects that align with the vision of economic modernization and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
The Ministry employees were received by the Executive Director of Projects and Expansions, Eng. Bassam Al-Maaytah, and the Director of Manufacturing and Quality/Technical, Eng. Alaa Al-Omari.
Al-Maaytah provided an overview of the company's history, which was established in 1956 under a 100-year concession from the Jordanian government. Trial production began in 1982, and commercial production began in 1983. Today, the company ranks eighth globally in terms of market share, currently producing nine high-quality, global-standard products that reach various markets around the world.
Al-Maaytah emphasized that the company adopts policies that promote environmental conservation and sustainability, and supports the local community through the implementation of distinguished development and service projects and research and development services in various fields, particularly agriculture and training.
The employees conducted a field tour of the solar evaporation ponds system for salt production and the company's factories to learn about the production mechanisms of the raw material (carnallite) and the stages of potash manufacturing. They praised the company's efforts and the qualitative operations it implements, as well as its important role in contributing to raising the Kingdom's gross domestic product and providing direct and indirect job opportunities for Jordanians.
At the end of the tour, Al-Adwan presented the company with the Ministry's shield in honor of its efforts and significant role in the nation-building process.
