Al-Kharabsheh: JOTC’s New Laboratory Is a Significant Addition to the Energy Sector
December 4, 2025 — Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh affirmed on Thursday that developing laboratories providing integrated services in quality assurance, testing, and certification within the energy sector—using the latest globally approved analytical equipment and technologies and adhering to the highest international standards of quality and safety—aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to empower national institutions to innovate, enhance the efficiency of vital sectors, and strengthen their readiness to address rapid technological and industrial changes.
He added that, during his patronage of the opening of the new “JOTC” Laboratory for Petroleum Derivatives and Petrochemicals, affiliated with the Jordan Oil Terminals Company, and in the presence of the Ministers of Industry, Trade, and Environment, along with a number of officials and representatives from the public and private sectors, the laboratory represents a significant addition to the national infrastructure supporting the energy sector and contributes to enhancing the reliability and accuracy of specialized laboratory testing.
He emphasized that public–private partnerships constitute a fundamental pillar for supporting sustainable development, improving service quality, and creating a competitive work environment that enhances Jordan’s standing in the Arab region.
For his part, JOTC Director General Eng. Ashraf Al-Rawashdeh stated that the laboratory marks a major milestone in the company’s journey toward expansion and excellence, reflecting its commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and innovation in the energy sector, in support of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ efforts to develop the national oil sector infrastructure.
Al-Rawashdeh added that the inauguration falls within the company’s strategic vision to strengthen its local and regional position by developing its technical services and expanding its operations in the oil and gas sector. Specialized laboratories have been established to provide high-precision testing services for petroleum derivatives and petrochemicals, thereby enhancing the company’s technical capabilities, elevating service quality, and opening new opportunities for cooperation with industrial and research institutions across the region.
The laboratories offer integrated services in quality assurance, testing, and certification, utilizing the latest internationally approved analytical equipment and technologies in accordance with the highest international quality and safety standards. To this end, a contract has been signed with Bureau Veritas—a leading global company in testing, inspection, and certification—to provide specialized technical expertise and ensure the laboratory operates in line with international best practices.
