12 November 2025 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), has commenced implementation of the first phase of the project to design, supply, install, operate, and maintain off-grid solar energy systems. The initial works include site preparation, land design, foundation casting, and other essential technical requirements.
The project aims to generate electricity using photovoltaic systems to meet year-round power needs at several remote locations. It includes the full provision of solar panels, battery storage units, inverters, mounting structures, and protection and control devices, in addition to the capability of integration with diesel backup generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The installed solar capacity under the project reaches 675 kWp, supported by 1,750 kWh of battery storage and 450 kW of inverter capacity.
The systems are being deployed at the sites of Al-Ashqaf, Al-Karama, Bayer, Shbeika, and Touba, ensuring sustainable and environmentally friendly energy solutions tailored to the needs of these remote locations.
The project is being executed by a consortium comprising Qaqour Energy Company and Technical Group for Contracting, under the supervision of technical teams from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources / Directorate of Electricity and Rural Electrification, and the Public Security Directorate. The supervisory team includes, from the Ministry: Eng. Salem Al-Gharaibeh and Eng. Alaa Al-Hadidi; and from PSD: Eng. Alaa Al-Aouran and Eng. Waad Al-Qadri.
