Amman – May 27, 2025 Under the patronage of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, the Ministry held a national celebration on Tuesday to mark the 79th anniversary of the Independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which is observed annually on May 25. The event was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry, Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, the Manager General of the National Electricity Company, as well as Managers of various departments and ministry staff.
In his speech, Minister Al-Kharabsheh emphasized that Independence Day is a glorious national occasion, noting that the Ministry continues to implement energy projects efficiently and in accordance with well-studied plans. These efforts align with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision and aim to enhance the sustainability of the energy sector.
Al-Kharabsheh added that independence serves as a motivation to achieve greater accomplishments, stressing that Jordan remains strong and resilient through the wisdom and vision of the Hashemite leadership and the dedication and sacrifices of its people.
Geologist Bahjat Al-Edwan, Manager of the Petroleum and Oil Shale Directorate, stated that independence is not merely a commemoration observed annually, but a milestone from which we draw inspiration and determination.
Al-Edwan added that the energy sector, through ambitious and realistic national policies, has succeeded in enhancing energy security and diversifying its sources, with a strong focus on local resources and renewable energy.
He noted that in recent years, the sector has witnessed a qualitative leap, particularly in the expansion of renewable energy projects and Jordan’s strong entry into green hydrogen investments—reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to a sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
The celebration also featured literary and poetic segments. Renowned Jordanian poet Taysir Al-Shamaseen recited a selection of patriotic verses, while colleague Nidal Al-Qassem read excerpts of poems by Haydar Mahmoud.
The ceremony concluded with a patriotic musical performance by colleague Suleiman Shamlawi, accompanied by ministry staff.
