Directorate of Petroleum and Oil Shale

 Main Tasks :

1. Participating in preparing and implementing policies, legal frameworks, and legislation related to the exploitation and development of oil, gas, oil shale, and tar sands.
2. Participating in and supervising the evaluation and qualification of submitting and interested companies for investment in the sectors (oil, gas, oil shale, and tar sands).
3. Participating in preparing and drafting all types of contractual documents and commercial agreements related to exploration, evaluation, production, and development operations (for oil, gas, oil shale, and tar sands).
4. Technical supervision and follow-up on the implementation of all contractual documents and commercial agreements related to exploration, evaluation, production, and development operations (for oil, gas, oil shale, and tar sands) and documenting their technical information and reports.
5. Promoting and marketing open exploration areas for Petroleum, oil shale, and tar sands to attract international companies.
6. Conducting geophysical surveys and studies for all the Ministry's projects.
7. Conducting geophysical surveys and studies for government projects and the private sector upon request.
8. Supervising and following up on the implementation of development plans for the Ministry's oil and gas exploration areas.
9. Auditing, evaluating, and following up on the financial status of companies working in natural resources that are contracted with the Ministry.
10. Maintaining, preserving and displaying oil, gas, and oil shale information by creating a database that includes all oil, gas and oil shale data in the Ministry.
