The Jordanian delegation at the PDAC conference meets with the Canadian government and private sectors

March 9, 2024 - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, during his meeting with the President of the PDAC Mining Conference, Raymond Goldie, and the CEO of the conference, Lisa McDonald, confirmed the keenness of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries through the participation of the Jordanian delegation in the activities of the PDAC Conference, which is considered The first event for the mineral industry in the world and witnesses more than 2,700 participating delegations representing the category of geological prospectors in the mining sector from all over the world.

Al-Kharabsheh headed the Ministry’s delegation participating in the activities of the annual PDAC conference held in Toronto, Canada, during the period from March 3-6 of this month.

During his meeting with Canadian Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, Mary Ng, and Canadian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Jonathan Wilkinson, Al-Kharabsheh expressed the Jordanian government’s keenness to attend international events organized by the Canadian government, and its role in raising bilateral relations to the level of cooperation. Trade and investment between the two countries.

The delegation held a meeting with Gregory Galligan, Executive Director of Middle East Relations and Global Affairs in Canada, during which Minister Al-Kharabsheh reviewed ways to consolidate Jordanian-Canadian relations and expand levels of partnership and technical support for the Jordanian mining sector. The meeting included a review of investment opportunities in the sector and the Jordanian government’s measures to facilitate the investment journey in Jordan.

 The delegation also met with the Director of Business Development of the Canadian Commercial Cooperative Cooperation CCC, Claude Gendron, and the representative of the General Directorate and Higher Services for Global Affairs for Export Sectors in Canada, Jordan Reeves. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the Jordanian mining sector through implementing a technical support project by Canadian companies specialized in conducting geophysical survey studies in the regions. Jordan, which has not completed previous exploration studies, which provides an attractive database for investment in Jordan. The meeting discussed procedures for following up on the project implementation map through official and diplomatic channels between the two sides.

 The delegation, headed by Al-Kharabsheh, held several bilateral meetings with representatives of the Canadian government and private sectors, and a number of international companies working in the mining of rare elements and strategic mineral ores, during which Al-Kharabsheh showed the investment opportunities for Jordanian strategic minerals and invited companies to visit Jordan and learn about the attractive investment environment and the availability of the necessary infrastructure for investment. The Jordanian delegation participating in the activities of the annual PDAC conference held in Canada, headed by Minister Al-Kharabsheh, included the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Canada, Sabah Al-Rafii, the Director of Natural Resources Studies at the Ministry, Geologist Hisham Al-Zyoud, and a representative from the International Trade Cooperation Office at the Canadian Embassy in Amman.
