August 12, 2026 - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through its Information Requests Committee, held an awareness workshop on Tuesday for employees of the Irbid Electricity Company regarding the implementation of “The Right to Access Information Law” No. 47 of 2007 and its amendments. This workshop is part of the committee's efforts to promote a culture of transparency and solidify the principles of access to information.

The workshop was presented by committee members Yasser Shatnawi and Alaa Naji, who discussed the legal and legislative framework governing “The Right to Access Information w” in Jordan. They emphasized the importance of this right in enabling individuals to access accurate data and information, as well as defining available and classified data and the importance of proactive disclosure, which contributes to enhance participation and informed decision-making.

They noted that the ministry has achieved best practices in law enforcement and has become a model for other official institutions in this regard, by providing information to requesters within an average of one day, while the law allows institutions to provide information within 15 days.

A number of company employees participated in the workshop, enriching the discussion with questions, comments, and inquiries. This workshop is part of a series of awareness programs and lectures implemented by the Ministry at the energy sector’s companies and the universities, with the aim of spreading awareness of “The Right to Access Information” and its importance in establishing the principles of institutional honesty and decent governance.
