Cairo, December 18, 2025 – On this Thursday in Cairo, the contract for the exchange of electrical energy between Jordan and Egypt was renewed. The signing was attended by Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, and the Jordanian Deputy Ambassador in Cairo, Dr. Riyad Al-Najjadah.
On behalf of Jordan, the contract was signed by Dr. Sufian Al-Bataineh, the Secretary-General of the National Electric Power Company. On the Egyptian side, it was signed by Engineer Mona Rizk, Chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company's Board of Directors.
The contract aims to continue the electrical exchange during the next year, ensuring grid stability and achieving economic returns for both parties.
This comes within the framework of the Jordanian government's efforts to achieve the economic modernization vision, ensure energy security and stability, and enhance resource use efficiency, thereby supporting regional integration in the energy sector and driving economic development forward.
